Great little getaway whether close to home or as a
stopping place on a longer journey. This breakwater-protected facility
offers transient moorage May to September and permanent moorage from
October
through April.
Large float provides 200' of visitor moorage uninterrupted
by
pilings. No reservations taken, although limited rafting possibilities
assure that most, if not all, can find moorage. Twenty and 30 amp power
available, as well as water, waste pump-out barge, showers, and a launch
ramp. Located on the southeast shore of Whidbey Island, this is
a
perfect stopover. The charming town of Langley overlooks Saratoga
Passage
and is a short walk from the waterfront. Restaurant offerings range from
gourmet pizza to seafood, Mediterranean to pub food, and several options
in
between. Excellent wine selection, fresh produce, and gourmet goodies
available at the general store. Several coffee shops and a bakery
offering
delectable pastries. Shops include bookstore, grocery, and pharmacy, as
well
as several galleries, clothing shops, and antique stores. Library
provides
internet access and US Post Office is across the street from City Hall.
Special times of the year include: last weekend in February (Mystery
Weekend); March-May when gray whales visit the shallow Langley shoreline
to
feed on sand shrimp; second weekend in July for the annual Choochokam
arts
and music festival; and third weekend in August for the Island County
Fair.
At all times of the year, visitors will enjoy beautiful vistas of the
Cascade Mountains, eagles in flight, herons along the shoreline, and
both
sunsets and sunrises over Saratoga Passage. Walking tour map is available
at
the Chamber of Commerce (near corner of Second and Anthes), and their
number
is 360-221-5676.
